Famous Events:

1783 - Sweden & United States signed a Treaty of Amity & Commerce. It established the commercial alliance between these two nations. It was signed in account of Benjamin Franklin (US) & Count Gustaf Philip Creutz (Sweden).


1790 - Revenue Marine Service (US Coast Guard), created


1856 - Gunpowder in church explodes killing 4,000 in Rhodos.
1910 - Highest mountain in North America, Alaska's Mt McKinley climbed. The mountain was with a summit elevation of 20,320 feet (6,194 m) above sea level.


1922 – Joseph Stalin appointed as the 1st General Secretary of Communist Party in Soviet Union. He dominated the post till his death by 1953.


1926 - 1st performance of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius' 7th Symphony in C Minor. His works famed as like Beethoven.


1933 - 1st airplane flight over Mt Everest, facing wind speed of 57 mph at 33,000 feet.


1935 - Yasuo Ikenada runs world record marathon (2:26:44)
1957 - USSR performs atmospheric nuclear test


1965 - 1st atomic powered spacecraft (snap) launched. It was the only know, 1st US Nuclear Reactor in Space. Main ambition behind this event is to generate electric-thermo power for electricity.


1973 - The 1st portable cell phone call is made in New York City, United States. It was demonstrated by Martin Cooper.


1974 - Gold hits record $197 an ounce in Paris.
1981 - Arnie Boldt of Saskatchewan jumped 6' 8.25," with 1 leg


1986 - US national debt hits $2,000,000,000,000


2007 - A French TGV train set an official new world speed record for conventional trains of 574.8 km/h on the LGV Est high-speed line.
